Which I feel is much better than changing the story’s ending so Glass could get his ultimate revenge.

However, Punke does his best to provide an ending that stays a true to the actually events of what happened to Glass. It is this let down which made me feel sorry for Glass since he did not ultimately get the revenge that drove him to survive in the first.

With Glass going through hell and back to survive and get his revenge I feel the story was a real let down for Glass who really did not get full justice. I do not think this is at fault by Punke himself but rather due to how the events ended for Glass. The only thing I felt was a true let down was the ending, where I feel Glass’s revenge was truly let down. Overall the story really was enjoyable and I was glad to have read, however the book may have gotten more attention due to its recent production into a film since the book was first published in 2002. Through this the read, in my opinion, gets to see the whole story and understand what is not just going with Glass but everyone else involved. For it allows the reader to fully understand each of the characters, what they are thinking, and why they did what they did. Punke does take advantage of the changing viewpoints, however the book does remain mostly with Glass, the switch does aid the book. Nonetheless Punke does a great job in telling Glass’s story and portraying the kind of obstacles Glass had to overcome. Since the author really only puts together the story of events in a way to tell it to the read. The Revenant does have a well developed backstory for each of is characters, but I feel this is more due to the story being based off true events which helps with that. Highlighting the struggles someone in 1823 would be facing out in the wild and left with very few items with them. Punke effectively provided the suspense and action throughout the book. The story was well written and Punke’s portrayal of the events Glass went through was well done. Punke delivers a remarkable tale of how far one person is willing to go to survive and overcome all odds so to get justice and retribution. In it, Punke truly grasps the struggle and determination Glass goes through in his tale of betrayal and revenge. The Revenant: A Novel of Revenge is based on the life events of American frontiersman Hugh Glass by Michael Punke. However, with the men abandoning Glass leaving him to die alone Glass is driven to push his limits to survive and get his revenge. Not being expected to live two company men stay behind to tend to Glass before he dies. Things change drastically for Glass when he comes face-to-face with a grizzly bear that brings him near death.
